Great post.

I agree, I've often thought about playing poker for a living like a friend of mine did last year (he moved to Las Vegas and is doing well) but I just couldn't do it. I love poker but to make it full time is just something I don't want to do. There is so much other stuff I'm interested in and would hate to miss out on that stuff b/c I had to play poker in order to pay for my rent etc. It's funny you mentioned gaining 10 lbs. playing poker...I thought that was funny because what did you expect when you sit around looking at cards all day....that's not exactly burning too many calories...lol.

Do what your gut tells you to and I wish you the best of luck.

I agree. Too bad a little thing called gets in the way everytime....lol.

Players will call with just about anything. And donkeys will get the best of it during tourneys but not always during cash games.

It's funny, the people I play with think I'm bluffing more in tourneys than in cash games.

I can't anyone to laydown a marginal hand in tourneys but play against them in a cash game and they're laying down hands that they would've called an all in with in a tourney. Just plain weird if you ask me.

Sorry about your bad run.

As for the pocket tens on the ace high flop, I used to attempt moves like this, but have since changed my position. If someone has called your pre-flop raise with a weak ace, and they make there hand, there not likely to drop it against you. You can take advantage of this when you have an high ace of course, but here I would just lay your tens down.

The only really chance you've got his if he called your raise with a suited ace, maybe A7s trying to pick up a flush draw or two pair, if your opponent is willing to call your pre-flop raise with this in mind, and will fold his TP if he hits it and misses is draw, then you could try and make a move on the flop, maybe bet 2/3s the size of the pot, if he calls, I'll be prepared to drop it on the turn.

Best of luck xxx

Best of luck, I did a stint of 2 tabling them not long ago, which I really enjoyed, but my game was a little off, so multi-tabling just increased my losses. I found it quite addictive multi-tabling them though, so much more enjoyable then working on one at a time, despite the lack of information you can pick up by concentrating on more then one table.

That sucks, especially considering the stakes. Not much I can say to comfort you I'm afraid, these things happen, but knowing that doesn't make it feel any better.

There is a PLO chapter in SS2 but there are some websites out there that can give a few guidelines when starting. The great thing about PLO is that the gap between the good players and the bad players is usually much bigger than holdem.

I'm really keen on playing PLO, where do you play it?

How do you begin playing PLO, did you just pick it up as you went along, or can you recommend any txt worth reading... am I right in thinking theres a PLO chapter in Super System 2?

Really busy with online stuff and NL Hold'em at the moment, trying to get back on track with my bonus after missing out on so many games while being ill, but I'm really keen on giving PLO a try, even if its on a free table to pick up the basics. If I get my games quota in tomorrow I might sit in a free game on FTP tomorrow and try and pick up some basics.

Keep up the good work.

I agree, the aggressive route is the better approach to the later stages, but in the micro limits I feel we have to be careful we are not perceived as bullying the table too much.

Sometimes I worry too much about my image though, so I can take it too far, and its a valid point that most of the players in the micro games aren't aware of anyones image, but they can quickly get annoyed if they see you raise a few pots in a row, or raise there blind a few times in close order, even if you hold legitimate holdings and then begin to play back at you with a wide range of hands, just because they feel your bullying them and when your trying to pick up a few blinds here and there, thats not what you want.

Its always a good idea to re-evaluate how your playing and look for ways to improve. I'm looking at some areas of my own game at the moment, to try and improve on a few areas. You'll get the rewards for your hard work soon enough.
